Matching revenues

See field: provincial

In general or by-elections, the treasurer of any municipality with a population of 20,000 or more pays, at the same time as the reimbursement of election expenses, matching revenues to eligible political parties and authorized independent candidates.

Such revenues shall be calculated at the rate of $2.50 for each dollar raised as contribution revenues as of January 1 of the year in which a general election is held until polling day or, at a by-election, during the election period up to the ceilings established according to the elected position and the size of the municipality.

The calculation of this revenue, however, excludes the contribution paid by a candidate for his own benefit or that of the political party for which he presents himself.
