Québec City, March 30, 2001 –– Within the context of the by-election that will be held in the electoral division of Mercier on April 9th, Mr. Marcel Blanchet, Chief Electoral Officer, wishes to inform electors that advance polling will be held on Sunday, April 1st and Monday, April 2nd, between 2:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
Mr. Blanchet would like to reiterate that advance polling is mainly intended for electors with a handicap, election officers and electors who have reason to believe that it will be difficult for them to exercise their right to vote on polling day, Monday, April 9th. Consequently, electors who wish to avail themselves of advance polling will have to make an oath to the effect that they meet one of these conditions.
To obtain information on advance polling (the address of polling stations, polling station hours, etc.), electors are asked to consult the list of electors that was distributed to dwellings, or the Institution’s web site at the following address: www.dgeq.qc.ca.
In conclusion, Mr. Blanchet would like to remind electors who wish to take part in advance polling that polling stations are generally busiest between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.
