Sixty-nine Québec School Boards to Draw Up their Electoral Maps
Quebec City, February 18, 2013 – The Chair of the Commission de la représentation électorale du Québec (CRE), Jacques Drouin, would like to remind Québec electors that sixty-nine (69) Québec school boards are required to draw up their electoral maps this year in preparation for the school elections that are scheduled on November 2, 2014. Each school board has primary responsibility for dividing its territory. The role of the CRE in this respect is to support school boards and, if necessary, carry out the division itself in certain cases envisaged by law.

The Chief Electoral Officer analysed 5 scenarios regarding the organization and the management of simultaneous school and municipal elections
Québec, March 17, 2010 – In order to provide the decision makers with the most comprehensive picture regarding the various choices proposed, the Chief Electoral Officer has analyzed the impacts of 5 different scenarios for the organization and simultaneous holding of polls, as well as the entire electoral process for various levels of integrating the school and municipal operations. In light of his review, the Chief Electoral Officer believes that the school and municipal organizations are the best placed to organize and hold simultaneous elections.

Conditions precedent to holding school and municipal elections simultaneously
Québec, March 17, 2010 – In order to meet a request for consultation from the minister of Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport (MELS) and Affaires municipales, des Régions et de l’Occupation du territoire (MAMROT), the Chief Electoral Officer of Quebec, Mr Marcel Blanchet, is today making public a notice on the proposed modifications to the Act respecting school elections, where the organization has studied the hypothesis of holding simultaneous school and municipal elections.

SCHOOL GENERAL ELECTIONS ARE SCHEDULED IN QUÉBEC ON NOVEMBER 4, 2007
Québec City, September 20, 2007–– Pursuant to the Act Respecting School Elections, general elections will take place on Sunday, November 4, 2007, in 60 French language school boards and nine English language school boards in Québec. About 5,000,000 French language electors and 300,000 English language electors will be called to vote in these elections.

Québec City, September 20, 2007 – The Chief Electoral Officer, Me Marcel Blanchet, would like to remind the public that the rules governing financing and the control of expenses will be applied during the election period that begins tomorrow in the 69 Québec school boards, in view of the general elections of November 4, 2007. During the 2003 school general elections when these rules were applied for the first time, candidates received a total of $1,213,150 in contributions and filed returns showing total election expenses of $1,151,610.
