Municipal general elections
Within the framework of the November 2nd municipal elections that will be held in the following municipalities: Anjou, Blainville, Cap-de-la-Madeleine, Chicoutimi, Granby, La Baie, Lachine, Laval, Pierrefonds, Québec, Repentigny, Sainte-Foy, Saint-Jérôme, Sept-Îles, Terrebonne, Verdun and Victoriaville

Me François Casgrain, Chief Electoral Officer of Québec, would like to inform the public of the rules governing political financing and the control of election expenses that apply in 17 municipalities having a population of 20,000 or over and which will hold general elections on November 2nd of this year.

Côté, Q.C., Chief Electoral Officer of Québec, would like to inform you that candidates running in the November 3rd general elections in municipalities with a population of 20,000 or more must respect a limit on election expenses. This limit is calculated based on a basic amount and the number of electors by electoral district and in the municipality as a whole.

General election in the municipality of Alma
The Chief Electoral Officer of Québec, Pierre-F. Côté, Q.C., hereby informs you that candidates for the general election which will be held on next November 5th are subject to an election expense ceiling. Preliminary estimates based on data provided by the municipality of ALMA following its enumeration place this ceiling at $10 841 for mayoral candidates. Candidates running for the office of municipal councillor are subject to a ceiling varying between $2 638 for the least populated district and $2 821 for the district with the highest voter population. These ceilings will be slightly modified following revision of the electoral list.
