Frenquency of school board elections

The Act respecting School elections (ASE) stipulates that general elections shall be held in all school boards of Québec on the first Sunday of November, every four years. Sixty-nine school boards, namely 60 French-speaking boards and 9 English-speaking boards,see to the election of  1,305 school councillors (1,144 French-speaking and 161 English-speaking councillors).

2007 was the last year of school general elections.

On June 11, 2010, Bill 86 was assented to. It defers the general school election planned in 2011 to a later date that will be set by the government.
