Voters in Training Challenge

The contest Voters in Training Challenge is for primary schools (cycle 3), secondary schools, and youth organizations participating in the Voters in Training program for the general municipal elections of 2017.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the contest, schools and youth organizations must:

  • Register for the Voters in Training program by completing the registration form (in French) between August 15 and October 6, 2017;
  • Carry out the election simulation activity at their establishment between October 23 and November 3, 2017;
  • Send in the results from the simulated vote via Internet before November 4, 2017.

Description of prizes

Two $500 awards will be handed out to schools (one to a primary school and one to a secondary school).

One $500 award will be given to a youth organization.

These awards must be used to carry out a democracy-related activity with youth.

Awarding of prizes

Three $500 awards will be handed out to the primary school, secondary school and youth organization that have recorded the highest turnout* for their simulation..

Winners will be revealed on November 7, 2017, at 9 a.m. Winners will be notified by phone the same day.

* Turnout is calculated based on the number of young people registered on the voters list (the number of potential participants mentioned by the school or youth organization on the registration form) compared to the number of young people who voted.
