Citizen round table

Interview with Joane Marois

"The electoral process is crucially important because it has a major influence on our day-to-day lives after a government is elected. This process must be as ethical and as representative as possible, in order to serve well the citizens’ interests and values."

Why did you choose to be a member of the Citizen round table?

“I saw it as a great opportunity to express my views, to highlight the subjects that for me are very important at the social level. It’s often said that our opinions have no real impact. The Citizen round table really enables us to better understand the electoral process and all the related issues from both a focused and general standpoint. It’s important for me to be able to do this.”

What are you left with following your experience as a member of the Citizen round table?

“It is enriching, because we learn a great deal of things. It’s also very positive and encouraging to observe the openness that para-governmental organizations can display, and I find that enlightening.”
