A conviction following a violation of the AERM in Montréal

Québec City, October 31, 2012 – The Chief Electoral Officer of Québec, Mr. Jacques Drouin, wishes to inform the population of a conviction following a violation of the Act respecting elections and referendums in municipalities (AERM).

In the municipal elections held on November 1, 2009 in Montréal, Mr. Jacques Brisebois ran as an independent candidate. He was also his own official agent and representative. In this position, he failed to file with the treasurer of the City of Montréal, no later than January 30, 2010, his financial reports and election expenses.

A hearing was held on September 19, 2012 and the judge found him guilty of the charge brought against him. Mr. Brisebois was sentenced to pay a fine of $250.
