By-election on December 2, 2019 in the Jean-Talon electoral division: Welcome to future voters!

November 22, 2019

Family voting is back, this time for the by-election in Jean-Talon! Just like in the last general provincial election, we’re inviting future electors to accompany their parents or grandparents. The children can participate by casting a vote in our "small polling stations".

On the advance polling days (November 24 and 25) as well as on election day (December 2), children can be actively involved by answering a question designed specially for them about democratic values. The results of the children’s vote will be published on the Élections Québec website on December 3.

Moreover, families can take advantage of a new communication method to ask questions about this activity: they can contact Élections Québec by text message at VOTEQC (868372). They can also use social media, in addition to the other communication methods available.

Behind the scenes of an election

Élections Québec provides an opportunity for secondary students to get behind the scenes of an election.

Thanks to the Behind the scenes of an election program, six young people from the De Rochebelle, Collège Jésus-Marie and Séminaire des Pères Maristes secondary schools will have a front row seat onto the various steps in the effective carrying out of a provincial by-election. They will observe the work of the various people making the election process possible.

You can follow their experience by means of messages posted and shared on the ZED - Zone d’éducation à la démocratie (Democracy education zone) Facebook page, or live on Twitter with the hashtag #CoulissesÉlection.
