Annual meeting of junior elected officials: student council members learn about democratic values

January 31, 2020

Promoting democratic values lies at the heart of our mission. Élections Québec, in partnership with the Institut du Nouveau Monde (INM) and under the auspices of the Vox populi : ta démocratie à l’école! program (in French), will be presenting the second annual meeting of Québec's youngest elected officials (Rendez-vous national des jeunes élus).

Are you in charge of a student council or do you know any student council members? If so, please recognize their efforts and invite them to take part in this major annual event, which will be held in Québec City on March 20-21. Attendance is free of charge.

Designed to train and inspire student council members and pay tribute to their commitment, the meeting serves as a forum, bringing together elected officials in the 15-to-17 year-old age group, along with other stakeholders. Everyone will have a chance to exchange views with other inspirational young people. Together, they will address a range of key issues, including democratic best practices. By the end of the event, participants will be better equipped to carry out their roles as student representatives. This is a wonderful opportunity to play a part in a major civic education experience!

An affordable range of transportation and accommodation options will be available. The registration deadline is February 14. Please consult the INM's website for further information. And be sure to tell your own network of contacts about this event by using the "share" feature below!
