Press Release no 13 – General Elections of September 4, 2012 - Electors who are temporarily absent from Québec have only 24 hours to register for the vote outside of Québec
Québec City, August 14, 2012 –– Jacques Drouin, the Chief Electoral Officer of Québec, would like to inform persons who are qualified electors in Québec but are currently residing outside Québec that they have only 24 hours to return their application to vote by correspondence in the general elections of September 4, 2012. The application must be received in the office of the Chief Electoral Officer latest August 15, 2012 at midnight.

Press Release no. 12 – September 4, 2012 general election - 125 returning officers at the service of Québec's electors
Québec, August 13, 2012 –– Jacques Drouin, Chief Electoral Officer of Québec, wishes to recall the very important role played by returning officers in the organization of the general election that will be held this September 4. The offices of these returning officers are open since August 1 to the general public in each of the 125 electoral divisions of Québec.

Press release no. 11 – September 4, 2012 general election - The important task of revising the list of electors begins in Québec
Québec, August 12, 2012 – Mr. Jacques Drouin, Chief Electoral Officer of Québec, considers wishes to inform Québec’s electors that the important task of revising the list of electors, an essential step in every general election, begins tomorrow, August 13, in preparation of the upcoming September 4 vote. A first "revision operation" will be held from August 13 to 21 in the 125 electoral divisions of Québec. Afterwards, a special revision period, from August 22 to 30 at 2 p.m., will give those people who have not gone before a board of revisors a last opportunity to update the information concerning them.

Press release No. 10 – September 4, 2012 general election - Mobile polling in residential facilities and at the elector's domicile
Quebec City, August 8, 2012 – The Chief Electoral Officer of Québec, Jacques Drouin, would like to remind all electors with reduced mobility that they can exercise their right to vote at their domicile or in a residential facility. It should however be noted that in the case of these alternative polling methods, an application must be addressed to the returning officer with due dispatch.

Québec, August 7, 2012 –– In preparation for the upcoming September 4 general election, Jacques Drouin, Chief Electoral Officer, wishes to remind electors that the "Are you registered on the list of electors?" notice, which is being distributed to their domicile this week, is an important source of information. Not only does this notice allow electors to check whether their name is correctly entered on the list of electors, it also provides them with information concerning the place where they can register, make corrections, or have a person struck from the list. Over the next few days, around 3,900,000 notices will be distributed to as many addresses, all across Québec.

Québec, August 3, 2012 –– Jacques Drouin, Chief Electoral Officer of Québec, would like to inform the public that 5 893 614 electors are currently registered on the lists of electors, as compared to 5 729 240 when the order was issued for the December 8, 2008 general election (this last total did not include the number of voters registered to vote outside Québec).

Quebec City, August 3, 2012 –– The Chief Electoral Officer of Québec, Jacques Drouin, wishes to inform electors from Québec that they may register as of now to vote by mail if they expect to be outside the province on election day (September 4, 2012) and during advance polling (August 26 and 27, 2012), and if they are unable to vote at the office of the returning officer on any of the following five days: August 24, 25, 28, 29, 30, 2012.

Quebec City, August 1, 2012 – A number of elements of the electoral framework for the 2012 general election will distinguish this event from the 2008 vote. A new electoral map, “novelties” with respect to how to exercise one’s right to vote, and changes to the Election Act concerning the financing of political parties, violations of the Act, and their legal consequences are now part of the electoral landscape.

It will be possible to learn more about the major stages of the election process, the rules governing the election or financing, the characteristics of electoral divisions and data on past elections by visiting the Website of the Chief Electoral Officer, the Information Centre or the press relations office. Notices distributed to every home as well as advertising in the various media outlets are also means allowing electors to obtain information.

The Chief Electoral Officer discloses highlights from the financial reports of provincial and municipal political parties for 2011
Quebec City, June 19, 2012 –– The Chief Electoral Officer of Québec, Jacques Drouin, today disclosed the financial reports of Québec’s 18 provincial political parties for the fiscal year ending December 2011. In accordance with the provisions of the Election Act, the deadline for filing 2011 financial reports for political parties was April 30, 2012, whereas it was April 1, 2012 for party authorities and other authorized entities. The various reports are published in two different documents, with the first volume presenting information concerning the financial situation of the provincial political parties and the second containing the lists of persons having made contributions to political entities.
