Press release 20 –April 7, 2014 general election - A new measure will facilitate secure access to polling stations for persons with reduced mobility
Quebec City, April 2, 2014 –In connection with the April 7 vote, the Chief Electoral Officer of Québec, Jacques Drouin, wishes to inform persons with reduced mobility that further to an agreement reached with the political parties represented at the National Assembly, they will be able to vote in a polling station other than the one they have been assigned, if theirs is inaccessible. The agreement completes the work carried out in the various electoral divisions of Québec to reduce as much as possible the number of polling places which a person in a wheel chair, for example, would find inaccessible.

Press release no. 19 – April 7, 2014 general election - Advance polling update after Day 2 : 1 057 706 electors exercised their right to vote
Québec, April 1, 2014 –– At the end of the second day of advance polling held yesterday, March 31, Mr. Jacques Drouin, Chief Electoral Officer, announces that 1 057 706 electors exercised their right to vote to date. This total corresponds to 17,68 % of the total number of electors registered on the lists of electors prior to the special revision. For yesterday, the turnout rate was 8,31%.

Press release no. 18 – April 7, 2014 general election - Advance polling update after Day 1 : 561 872 electors exercised their right to vote
Québec, March 31, 2014 –– At the end of the first day of advance polling held yesterday, March 30, Mr. Jacques Drouin, Chief Electoral Officer, announces that 561 872 electors exercised their right to vote to date. This total corresponds to 9,39 % of the total number of electors registered on the lists of electors prior to the special revision.

Press Release No. 17 – General Elections of April 7, 2014 - On-Campus Voting – To Facilitate Voting for Young Electors
Québec City, March 27, 2014 – Schools in Québec attended by student electors are about to experience a “democratic first”, as on-campus voting begins tomorrow for the general election of April 7 next. This new measure has been put in place in universities, CEGEPs, colleges and vocational training centres that have at least 300 student electors. According to the Chief Electoral Officer’s estimates, more than 400,000 students will be able to take advantage of the new measure, since more than 300 polling stations will be opened in roughly 175 educational institutions.

Québec, March 27 – Mr. Jacques Drouin, Chief Electoral Officer of Québec, wishes to inform those electors who were not able to take advantage of the regular revision period that they will have one last chance to register during the special revision period that started yesterday and that ends on April 3 at 2:00 p.m.

Press Release no. 15 – April 7, 2014 general election - 18 273 Quebecers staying in 117 countries are registered to “vote outside Québec”
Quebec City, March 26, 2014 ––The Chief Electoral Officer of Québec, Jacques Drouin, wishes to announce that 18 273 electors who are temporarily absent from Québec have registered for postal voting for the April 7, 2014 general election. These electors are either certain to be staying or expect to be staying in 117 countries, on every continent, on polling day. The total of 18 273 electors registered to “vote outside Québec” is the highest ever recorded in the general elections over the past 25 years.

Press release no 14 - 815 candidates will be running in the April 7 general election
Quebec city, March 22, 2014 – In preparation for the upcoming April 7th general election, Mr. Jacques Drouin, Chief Electoral Officer of Québec, announces that after the period for filing nomination papers, which ended at 2 p.m. today, 815 nomination papers have been accepted in the 125 electoral divisions of Québec. In comparison, 894 candidates ran in the 2012 general election. Consequently, there are 79 candidates less than in the last election.

The Chief Electoral Officer wishes to clarify information concerning the revision of the lists of electors
Quebec City, March 22, 2014 – In recent days, information has been circulated that clearly shows a misconception on the part of some people regarding the procedure used to revise the lists of electors, and in particular regarding the notion of domicile. The Chief Electoral Officer has therefore produced information documents that will be distributed in order to help electors and boards of revisors to understand these aspects.

Press Release no 13 – General Elections of April 7, 2014 - Electors who are temporarily absent from Québec have only 24 hours to register for the vote outside of Québec
Québec City, March 18, 2014 –– Jacques Drouin, the Chief Electoral Officer of Québec, would like to inform persons who are qualified electors in Québec but are currently residing outside Québec that they have only 24 hours to return their application to vote by correspondence in the general elections of April 7, 2014. The application must be received in the office of the Chief Electoral Officer latest March 19, 2014 at midnight.

Press Release no. 12 – April 7, 2014 general election - 125 returning officers at the service of Québec's electors
Québec, March 17, 2014 –– Jacques Drouin, Chief Electoral Officer of Québec, wishes to recall the very important role played by returning officers in the organization of the general election that will be held this April 7. The offices of these returning officers are open since March 5 to the general public in each of the 125 electoral divisions of Québec.

Press release no. 11 – Avril 7, 2014 general election - The important task of revising the list of electors begins in Québec
Québec, March 16, 2014 – Mr. Jacques Drouin, Chief Electoral Officer of Québec, considers wishes to inform Québec’s electors that the important task of revising the list of electors, an essential step in every general election, begins tomorrow, March 17, in preparation of the upcoming April 7 vote. In the last general election, in September 2012, more than 139 000 changes on the list of electors were made. Based on the experience of past elections, the greatest number of changes will likely be made by people who have moved and whose change of address has not been sent yet to the Chief Electoral Officer.

Press release No. 10 – April 7, 2014 general election - Mobile polling in residential facilities and at the elector's domicile
Quebec City, March 12, 2014 – The Chief Electoral Officer of Québec, Jacques Drouin, would like to remind all electors with reduced mobility that they can exercise their right to vote at their domicile or in a residential facility. It should however be noted that in the case of these alternative polling methods, an application must be addressed to the returning officer with due dispatch.

Press release no. 9 – April 7, 2014 general election - The voter information card: an important source of information for electors
Québec, March 9, 2014 –– In preparation for the upcoming April 7 general election, Jacques Drouin, Chief Electoral Officer, wishes to remind electors that the voter information card, which will be distributed to their domicile this week, is an important source of information. Not only does this notice allow electors to check whether their name is correctly entered on the list of electors, it also provides them with information concerning the place where they can register, make corrections, or have a person struck from the list. Over the next few days, around 3,900,000 notices will be distributed to as many addresses, all across Québec.
