INM Winter School: Élections Québec offers a profile about involvement

11 February 2020

Categories: Democracy education, Institutional

Organized by the Institut du Nouveau Monde (INM), the 12th edition of the Winter School will run from February 14-16, 2020 at Sherbrooke CEGEP. Geared towards 15-to-35 year-olds from around Québec, the event is based on the theme “Ouvrir la voie” (Paving the Way). Élections Québec’s team will be animating a profile entitled “Voie d’engagement” (Getting Involved). The participants will analyze why certain people feel a need to get involved in their communities and how their involvement changes over time. What are their related achievements, obstacles and challenges? How can we preserve our sense of community involvement during the various stages of our lives? In addressing these questions, the participants will get to know a range of inspiring individuals actively involved in their communities.

In recent years, Élections Québec has partnered with the INM on its “citizenship schools”, which deal with the issue of community involvement from a variety of perspectives. Offering a range of activities, roundtables and seminars, these events provide learning opportunities and give participants new tools to hone their leadership skills. Promoting civic engagement ties in directly with Élections Québec’s education mandate.

The registration deadline for the INM’s Winter School is February 9, 2020. Please consult the event website (in French only) for further information.
