4 December 2020

Categories: Democracy education, Provincial

Mr. Pierre Reid, the Chief Electoral Officer, will participate in the Comment ça marche? workshops of the Assemblée nationale du Québec National Assembly next Monday, December 7, at 5:30 p.m. He will explain the particularities of provincial elections online on the Assemblée nationale du Québec Facebook page.

The workshop will address the role of the Chief Electoral Officer and Élections Québec, as well as the institution’s mission and mandates. In particular, Mr. Reid will talk about the permanent list of electors, the Register of authorized political entities and political financing. During his presentation, he will explain the various elements that characterize and govern our election system: the laws, the voting system and the electoral map. Finally, Mr. Reid will talk about the main activities that take place during a provincial election, from the adoption of the writ of election to the official proclamation of candidates elected.

We invite you to attend this stimulating workshop! During the presentation, you’ll even be able to ask questions in the comments section of the event’s Facebook page and in the conversation thread.

You won’t want to miss this event!

About the workshops

The Comment ça marche? workshops are user-friendly training sessions for the general public, and departmental and agency staff. Their purpose is to demystify and explain different aspects of the National Assembly. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the workshops have been virtual, in a Facebook live format. This is the fifth workshop presented in this way. Mr. Reid is the first guest expert who is not from the National Assembly.

The Charter of the French language and its regulations govern the consultation of English-language content.
