Young people: important agents of change

13 August 2019

Categories: Democracy education, Institutional

Did you know that, according to the United Nations, there are more young people in the world than ever before?

These 1.8 billion youth age 10 to 24 constitute essential partners as agents of change. The Service de l’éducation à la démocratie (democracy education department) of Élections Québec works daily with young people and is delighted to be participating in the École d’été de l’Institut du Nouveau Monde. Taking place in Montréal from August 14 to 17, 2019, the event shines a spotlight on youth with the theme “Vent de changement” or wind of change.

The event team will host the profil Exploration – Circuit démocratique pour explorateurs engagés, an activity it developed exclusively for this occasion. During the four-day event, young people will be introduced to democracy around the world in addition to exploring various forms of citizen participation. During a photo rally, they will also discover the city of Montréal from a democratic angle!

To follow the event, be sure to keep an eye on the ZED – Zone d’éducation à la démocratie Facebook page and the Élections Québec Instagram account!
