Our institution

Research, projects, and surveys

Summary

Élections Québec leverages its expertise by conducting research, projects, and surveys. These activities help the institution refine its knowledge of electoral issues and contribute to maintaining Québec’s democratic culture.

In this section

Our research and projects are guided by our values of neutrality, independence, and impartiality. They focus on areas that reflect our mission:

  • Voter turnout;
  • Election proceedings;
  • Financing of political parties and control of election expenses;
  • Candidates;
  • Democratic education.

Our work pursues various objectives:

  • Supporting and guiding decision-making;
  • Improving election proceedings, better serving our clienteles, and supporting the electoral administration’s performance;
  • Informing citizens and taking into account their knowledge and concerns with regard to voter turnout;
  • Providing insight to legislators on the application of electoral legislation and supporting our recommendations;
  • Sharing our knowledge, keeping a forward-looking vision, and anticipating changes.

The Election Act also gives us the power to conduct studies related to our mission. We are also occasionally given specific mandates by the Assemblée nationale.
