Exception to the 2-year time limit

  • if you are posted outside Québec to hold a position on behalf of the Government of Québec or of the Government of Canada;
  • if you are posted outside Québec to hold a position on behalf of an international organization of which Québec or Canada are members and to which they make a contribution.

Nor does the two-year time limit apply to your spouse, including your de facto spouse, or to dependents, provided that they are qualified electors and live with you outside Québec.
