Summary

Provincial and municipal political parties and independent candidates must file financial reports each year.

In this section

Political parties and their authorities, as well as authorized independent candidates and authorized independent MNAs, must file annual financial reports that account for their revenue and expenditures to ensure transparency. On a nearly annual basis, we also conduct a statistical analysis to draw up a detailed portrait of the financing of all political parties.

These financial reports do not contain any confidential information. They are published on this page as produced by the political entities.

In this section

Under the Act respecting elections and referendums in municipalities (AERM), the financial reports of authorized municipal political parties are made public. The data published on this page is consistent with that contained in the reports produced by political parties. Original signed reports are available from the municipality upon request from the municipality.

These reports contain an income statement, a balance sheet, a statement of cash flow, and a list of individuals who contributed more than $50 to the party during the year (as of January 2017).

Financial reporting statistics

From 2011 to 2016, we have produced statistical reports on the financial reports of political parties. These reports are detailed portraits of municipal political parties. They assess the changes made to political authorizations granted, and the by-elections that were held over the course of the year.
