Small polling stations allow children accompanying their parents to learn about the electoral process by voting for themselves.
During a provincial election, the Voters in training program provides an opportunity for voters to experience democracy as a family! Small polling stations set up in each polling station allow children to vote, like their parents, by answering a question specially designed for them. The small polling stations are specifically designed for children between the ages of 3 and 12, but they are open to all young people under the age of 18 who want to learn about the electoral process.
Small polling stations will be back for the next general provincial election.
During the 2026 general provincial election, children will have a chance to answer the question below (in French):
Being a citizen means being part of a group, like your city, your town, your family or your school. It also means knowing how to deal well with others. How do you show you’re a good citizen?
On election day, at each polling place, children can go to the small polling station to vote, just like their parents, by answering a question specially tailored for them. The small polling stations are particularly aimed at children aged 3 to 12, but they are open to all young people under the age of 18 who want to learn about the electoral process. It’s a great way to experience democracy as a family!
Small polling stations will be back for the next general municipal election.
During the 2025 general municipal election, children answered the question below.
