Review of Québec’s electoral map

Electoral map: final boundaries

Summary

The new electoral map shows the delimitation of the electoral divisions for the upcoming provincial general election.

The 2026 electoral map was established by the Assemblée nationale. It will be used when the 43rd legislature ends. The final map files will be released in July.

Electoral map established by the Assemblée nationale

The new electoral map was established following the passing of an act by the Assemblée nationale. The number of electoral divisions is increasing from 125 to 127, which makes it possible to keep the electoral divisions of Gaspé and Anjou−Louis-Riel and add the two new electoral divisions that the Commission de la représentation électorale had proposed: Bellefeuille, in the greater Laurentides and Lanaudière region, and Marie-Lacoste-Gérin-Lajoie, in the greater Estrie and Centre-du-Québec region.

In total, 39 electoral divisions will be modified, instead of the 51 targeted in the Commission’s decision. The act maintains the boundaries of 12 electoral divisions in the regions of Île-de-Montréal and Gaspésie–Bas-Saint-Laurent. These regions are therefore keeping the boundaries defined in the electoral map established in 2017, as are five other regions in which no changes were planned by the Commission:

  • Abitibi-Témiscamingue
  • Chaudière-Appalaches
  • Côte-Nord
  • Mauricie
  • Nord-du-Québec

In all the other regions, the boundaries the Commission de la représentation électorale established in 2026 will apply. Electors affected by a change in electoral division will receive information by mail during the election period.

This map will be used in most of the electoral divisions, except those in the Île-de-Montréal and Gaspésie–Bas-Saint-Laurent regions, which keep the boundaries in effect since 2017.

The maps of Île-de-Montréal and Bas-Saint-Laurent–Gaspésie–Îles-de-la-Madeleine do not reflect the changes made by the Assemblée nationale. These files will be updated in July.
