Québec,August 28, 2012–– At the end of the second day of advance polling held on Monday, August 27, Mr. Jacques Drouin, Chief Electoral Officer, announces that 919 120 electors exercised their right to vote to date. This total corresponds to 15,57 % of the total number of electors registered on the lists of electors prior to the special revision. It should be noted that this number of electors includes those who voted at the office of the returning officer on August 24 and 25, as well as the electors who voted at their domicile or in a residential facility on these same days.
In comparison, 626 087 electors had taken part in advance polling at the end of the second day of advance polling in 2008, for a turnout rate of 10.93%.
The final participation rate of the advance polling will be known after the end of the votes at the domicile, in a residential facility or at the returning officer’s office on August 31. The counting of the votes cast during advance polling will take place on election night, namely September 4, in each of the 125 electoral divisions of Québec.
A table indicating the turnout rate for each electoral division of Québec at the end of the second day of advance polling is available on the website of the Chief Electoral Officer at the following address: www.monvote.qc.ca, by clicking on the "Participation rates of advance poll" link on the right side of the home page.
