The Chief Electoral Officer of Québec Appoints Hon. Jean Moisan as Investigating Commissioner
The Chief Electoral Officer of Québec, Me Marcel Blanchet, has announced the appointment of Hon. Jean Moisan, a retired superior court judge, as the investigating commissioner in charge of examining certain information that was revealed in the initial report of the Gomery commission. This appointment ensues from the decision of the Chief Electoral Officer (published on November 2, 2005), to investigate allegations made before the Gomery commission. The Chief Electoral Officer will attempt to determine if certain contributions paid to provincial political parties were in violation of the Election Act.
