Political financing in Québec: Chief electoral officer
gives positive report

The Chief Electoral Officer, Mr. Marcel Blanchet, gave a rather positive report on electoral financing over the past 25 years. During an activity held at the Hôtel du Parlement, Mr. Blanchet highlighted various data showing that the National Assembly attained most of the objectives it had set for itself in 1977 in passing the Act to govern the financing of political parties.

Chief electoral officer publishes electoral study
on political financing and the control of election expenses

On the 25th anniversary of the coming into force of the Act to govern the financing of political parties, the Chief Electoral Officer of Québec, Mr. Marcel Blanchet, has launched a new document in the collection "Electoral Studies," entitled Le financement politique et le contrôle des dépenses électorales au Québec — D'hier à aujourd'hui.

Chief electoral officer's three-year plan for political financing in Québec to emphasize transparency and equity

The Chief Electoral Officer, Mr. Marcel Blanchet, today unveiled a three-year plan reaffirming the fundamental principles of transparency and equity set out in the Act to govern the financing of political parties. The plan, presented at the Hôtel du Parlement, proposes measures intended to tighten application of the rules, which came into force 25 years ago. The event was attended by an impressive group of participants from all spheres of Québec political life.

The Commission de la représentation électorale is publishing a document on the new electoral map of Québec
The Commission de la représentation électorale, by way of its Chairman, Mr. Marcel Blanchet, and its commissioners, Mr. Guy Bourassa and Mr. Marc-André Lessard, is making public the document entitled The Electoral Map of Québec 2001. This document follows the publication of the list of electoral divisions in the Gazette officielle du Québec on December 18, 2001.
