Québec, April 11, 2003 –– Mr. Marcel Blanchet, Québec’s Chief Electoral Officer, wishes to remind the public that the Election Act requires every school board to give all the students in its schools a holiday on polling day, April 14.

Québec, April 11, 2003 –– Mr. Marcel Blanchet, Québec’s Chief Election Officer, wishes to inform citizens and media representatives that they will be able to obtain the preliminary polling results on the evening of April 14 by visiting the website of the Chief Electoral Officer at www.electionsquebec.qc.ca.

Québec, April 9, 2003 –– Mr. Marcel Blanchet, Québec’s Chief Electoral Officer, would like to remind electors that April 9, 2003 is the last day for entering their names on the list of electors for the April 14 general elections. Electors have until 9:00 p.m. this evening to do so.

Québec, April 8, 2003 ––Québec’s Chief Electoral Officer, Mr. Marcel Blanchet, has announced that a total of 304,418 electors, or 5,56% of the total number of electors entered on the lists of electors prior to the special revision, exercised their right to vote in the advance poll held on April 6 and 7 last.

Québec, April 7, 2003 –– Mr. Marcel Blanchet, Québec’s Chief Electoral Officer, wishes to inform the public that 5,476,682 electors are registered on the list of electors following the revision period that ran from March 24 to April 1.

Québec, April 4, 2003 –– For the general elections of April 14 next, the Chief Electoral Officer, Mr. Marcel Blanchet, wishes to inform electors that the advance poll will take place on Sunday, April 6 and Monday, April 7, from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Québec, April 1^th 2003 –– Mr. Marcel Blanchet, Québec’s Chief Electoral Officer, wishes to remind the public that Québec has a new electoral map following the dissolution of the National Assembly on March 12, 2003.

Québec, April 1^th, 2003 –– Mr. Marcel Blanchet, Québec’s Chief Electoral Officer, wishes to remind electors who were unable to take advantage of the regular revision period that they have another chance during the special revision period, which runs from April 2 to April 9, 2003, inclusively.

Québec, March 29, 2003 –– With today’s 2 p.m. deadline for filing nomination papers for the April 14 elections now past, Mr. Marcel Blanchet, Chief Electoral Officer of Québec, wishes to announce that a total of 644 candidates for the 125 electoral divisions have been accepted.

Québec, March 28, 2003 –– On the occasion of the general elections of April 14 next, Quebec’s Chief Electoral Officer, Mr. Marcel Blanchet, wishes to inform people who are hospitalized or residing in an establishment recognized by the Act respecting health and social services (reception centre, hospital centre or long-term residential care centre) that special measures will be implemented to facilitate the exercise of their right to vote.

Québec, March 27, 2003 –– Québec’s Chief Electoral Officer, Mr. Marcel Blanchet, wishes to inform certain categories of electors residing temporarily away from home that they may elect to exercise their right to vote in either the polling subdivision in which their domicile is located, or the polling subdivision in which they are residing temporarily. If they opt for the latter, it is there that their vote will be counted.

Québec, March 24, 2003 – For the general elections to be held on April 14, 2003, Québec’s Chief Electoral Officer, Mr. Marcel Blanchet, wishes to inform electors who have left their domicile temporarily in order to study that they may apply to vote in the electoral division in which they are studying.

Québec, March 21, 2003 –– In preparation for the general elections to be held on April 14, Québec’s Chief Electoral Officer, Mr. Marcel Blanchet, wishes to inform electors that the revision of the list of electors will take place from March 24 to April 1, 2003, inclusively. During that period, the revision offices will be open every day from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
