Mr. Jacques Girard, Chief Electoral Officer of Québec, would like to inform electors who have temporarily left their domicile to study that they will be able to choose to exercise their right to vote either in the polling subdivision in which they are domiciled or the one in which they are residing for their studies. However, to exercise this choice, the student must make an application to the revision office attached to his new residence.

In preparation for the general election that will be held on November 30, 1998, the Chief Electoral Officer would like to inform the public of certain measures that will facilitate the exercise of the right to vote for persons domiciled or living in a hospital centre, a long-term care centre or a rehabilitation centre within the meaning of the Act respecting health services and social services. Indeed, measures are planned to allow electors who are unable to move about to register by mail on the list of electors and/or to vote in their room.

In preparation for the November 30th general election, Mr. Jacques Girard, Chief Electoral Officer of Québec, wishes to inform the public that the revision of the list of electors will take place between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m., from November 9th to 17th inclusively. Mr. Girard would like to remind all concerned that following the coming into force of the permanent list of electors of Québec, there is no longer an enumeration before the election. As a result, those persons who wish to vote in the upcoming election must make sure that their name is correctly entered on the notice of entry or on the list of electors that they will be receiving at their home in the next few days.

Given that 5,189,168 electors are registered before the revision of the lists of electors, Me Jacques Girard, Chief Electoral Officer of Québec, would like to inform the public that a political party that presents candidates in the 125 electoral divisions of Québec will be able to spend at least $2,594,584 during the election campaign. As for candidates, they will be able to spend on average $40,000 per electoral division.
