Québec, May 27, 2009 –– In preparation for the upcoming June 22nd by-elections in the electoral divisions of Rivière-du-Loup and Marguerite-Bourgeoys, Marcel Blanchet, Chief Electoral Officer, wishes to remind electors that the "Are you registered on the list of electors?" notice, which is being distributed to their domicile this week, is an important source of information. Not only does this notice allow electors to check whether their name is correctly entered on the list of electors, it also provides them with information concerning the place where they can register, make corrections, or have a person struck from the list. Approximately 55,000 notices will be distributed (23,000 in Rivière-du-Loup and 35,000 in Marguerite-Bourgeoys) over the next few days to as many addresses in the two electoral divisions holding by-elections.

Québec, May 20, 2009 –– Pursuant to an order of the Government of Québec issued today, Marcel Blanchet, Chief Electoral Officer, must hold an election on Monday, June 22, 2009 in the electoral divisions of Rivière-du-Loup and Marguerite-Bourgeoys.

Québec City, May 20, 2009 –– The Chief Electoral Officer of Québec, Me Marcel Blanchet, would like to inform electors of the electoral divisions of Rivière-du-Loup and Marguerite-Bourgeoys that they can register for the postal ballot right away if they will be outside Québec on polling day or during the advance poll scheduled on June 14 and 15, 2009.

Québec, May 20, 2009 – Within the context of the upcoming June 22nd by-elections in the electoral divisions of Rivière-du-Loup and Marguerite-Bourgeoys, Marcel Blanchet, Chief Electoral Officer of Québec, would like to remind electors and candidates about the main rules found in the Election Act regarding political contributions and the control of election expenses. As for the rules concerning election expenses, they apply starting tomorrow, May 21st, until the close of polling stations on June 22nd of this year.

Mr. Blanchet also wishes to recall that one of the prerequisites to be able to exercise their right to vote is to be entered on the list of electors. Electors will thus be able to vote on polling day or take advantage of advance polling.

Québec City, September 24, 2008 –– In view of the by-election scheduled in the electoral division Jean-Talon on Monday, September 29, 2008, the Chief Electoral Officer of Québec, Me Marcel Blanchet, would like to announce that a total of 160 polling stations, spread over 24places of voting, will be open between 9:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. on polling day.

Québec, September 19, 2008 – The Chief Electoral Officer of Québec, Me Marcel Blanchet, would like to remind electors who are interested that they can take advantage of the special revision and the advance poll for the by-election of September 29, 2008, in the Jean-Talon electoral division. The special revision will take place from September 17 to 25, 2008, while the advance poll will be held on September 21 and 22, 2008.

Québec City, September 13, 2008 –– A total of six nomination papers have been accepted by the Chief Electoral Officer of Québec for the by-election that is scheduled on September 29, 2008, in the Jean-Talon electoral division. The period for filing nomination papers ends today at 2 p.m.

Québec City, September 5, 2008 –– The Chief Electoral Officer of Québec, Me Marcel Blanchet, would like to remind the public that, to vote in the by-election scheduled in the electoral division of Jean-Talon on Monday, September 29, 2008, you must be a qualified elector and be entered on the list of electors. Me Blanchet would also like to mention that the revision of the list of electors will take place from September 8 to 16, 2008, in this electoral division.
