Work of the Commission de la représentation électorale

On February 23, 2017, after almost three years of work and analyses, the Commission de la représentation électorale (CRE) established a new electoral map for Québec. The delimitation and the names of Québec’s 125 electoral divisions were published in the Gazette officielle du Québec on March 2, 2017. The changes made to the electoral map are intended to create electoral divisions that ensure fair and equitable representation for all electors, based on the new demographic realities in each region of Québec.

The current electoral divisions, whose delimitation and name were published in the Gazette officielle du Québec in October 2011, were used for the general elections held in September 2012 and April 2014. Pursuant to the provisions of the Election Act, the Commission began the work required to establish a new electoral map immediately following the last general election.

The new electoral map will come into force when the legislature ends.
