August 3, 2012

Québec, August 3, 2012 –– Jacques Drouin, Chief  Electoral Officer of Québec, would like to inform the public that 5 893 614  electors are currently registered on the lists of electors, as compared to 5 729 240 when the order was issued for the December 8, 2008 general election (this last total did not include the number of voters registered to vote outside Québec).

It should be noted that the figure of 5 893 614 is temporary since the total number of electors entered will be re-evaluated after the revision period which will extend from August 13 to 21 and the special revision period which will be held from August 22 to August 30.

Furthermore, the total number of electors entered is subject to change according to the number of electors who will be registered to vote outside Québec. The deadline for submitting an application to vote outside Québec is August 15. At the beginning of the election, on August 1, 201 electors were registered to exercise their right to vote outside Québec.

A complete table showing the breakdown by electoral division of the number of electors registered thus far is accessible on the Website of the Chief Electoral Officer at http://www.monvote.qc.ca/fr/doc_electeurs_inscrit.asp
