When and where to vote

You can vote on Election Day, at an advance poll, or through one of the other options available to you.

ELECTION UNDERWAY
To vote, you must be entered on the list of electors and your address must be up to date. Check your entry now, online or on your notice of entry. If your name is not on the list of electors or if you notice an error, you have until [jour -4] at 2 p.m. to rectify the situation. After that, it will be too late.
You can choose the time that suits you best to vote. You do not need to have your notice of entry or reminder card in hand to vote. However, you must bring one of the accepted identification documents.
Find your polling station
To find out where to vote enter your address.
You can find out the address of your advance polling station starting [jour -31], and that of your polling station for election day starting [jour -24]. You can also check the accessibility of each polling location.
You can then add the polling location information to your calendar to receive a reminder to vote.
Voting on election day
On election day, polling stations are open from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
To find out where to vote, enter your address in the field just above. You can find out the address of your polling station for election day starting [jour -24].
On [jour 0], there will be a greater number of election officers and more polling locations to accommodate electors.
The day and opening hours of your polling station are indicated on the yellow reminder card you will receive by mail the week before election day.
Advance polling
Advance polling will take place on Sunday and Monday of the week preceding the election. Polling stations will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The address of your advance polling station as well as its days and hours of operation are indicated on the notice of entry you will receive by mail at the beginning of the election period.
Voting at the office of the returning officer
Five voting days are scheduled at the office of the returning officer.

- [day -9], from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- [day -6], from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- [day -5], from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.

If you are in Québec, but outside of your region, you can go to the office of any returning officer to vote for a candidate in your domicile’s electoral division.

When to vote?
The returning officer must ensure that electors know when they can vote.
You can vote in advance on the Sunday before the election. In some municipalities, you can also vote on the Saturday before the advance poll.
For more information, consult your municipality’s communications, like its public notice of election. Some municipalities also send a reminder card by mail.

Voting at the office of the returning officer
Municipalities with 20,000 inhabitants or more must allow electors to vote at the office of the returning officer on the ninth day before polling day, at least between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Municipalities may also offer this option on the sixth, fifth and fourth days.
This type of vote can take place at any location designated by the returning officer; it does not have to be in their office.

Voting on election day
On election day, polling stations are open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
To find out the address of your polling station, please check the reminder card you might receive in the mail or contact the returning officer.
This reminder card also includes information about the candidates running for your school board.
Voting in the advance poll
You will be able to vote at the advance polls the seventh day before the election, between noon and 8 p.m. To find out where your advance polling station is located, contact the returning officer.
